Booking Lessons
We now have a new software system for booking lessons which means that we can keep on top of all our clients’ details and riding history and for those who purchase block bookings keep a track of payments so there is no confusion. In addition, we have a new fixed line card machine which means no more loitering outside trying to get a signal and hoping the transaction goes through!
However, we would like to remind clients’ that it is still their responsibility to book in their lessons each time and that we never “assume” you will be riding each week. Also, clients should by now be used to paying for their lessons in advance and that the cancellation policy still remains that if you cancel with less than 24 hour notice and we cannot re book the slot then you will still be expected to pay.
All clients are informed of this policy on their initial lesson and it is clearly displayed in the office so please show some consideration to the staff who have to enforce it! It may seem rather unfair but with another two riding schools in Cornwall closing down this month, we are becoming an endangered breed. Although, there is the assumption that riding schools operate out of a passion for the job, passion does not feed the horses or pay the bills.

Christmas Gymkhana
Our annual Christmas gymkhana for our riding school riders will be held on the 23rd December. Once again, we have been really fortunate to have Santa pop in despite his busy schedule and give out gifts. Please contact the office to book in your child. Siblings are welcome to meet Santa and receive a gift for a small cost.
Richard Waygood
The next Richard Waygood Jumping clinic is on Friday 30th December. This clinic is always really popular and this one in particular looks to be busy due to it running in the Christmas holiday period. If you would like a place, please book in at the office on 01208 831817.
The prices are £35 for a semi-private lesson and £30 for a group lesson. The number of semi-private lessons run will depend on numbers on the day. We prefer payment to be made either in cash or a cheque made out to “R Waygood.”
We can accept payment by card if necessary. Times will be given out near to the day but we ask that if you can inform us if you cannot ride at a particular time in advance then it makes it easier to sort out the running order!
Tack Shop
The tack shop will be open until 9pm for late night Christmas shopping on Thursday 8th December, Thursday 15th December and Wednesday 21st December. Come along and enjoy some mulled wine, mince pies or a Bucks Fizz whilst browsing the products in store.
We have lots of lovely items for sale including a new sterling silver jewellery collection from Falabella which anyone would be happy to receive.

Christmas Show
Our annual Christmas show is on Sunday 11th December and we all look forward to this event because it’s such good fun. We have classes for everyone with rosettes and novelty prizes.
The first class starts at 10am and the schedule can be found on our events page. We hope you can make it!
Christmas Gymkhana
Our annual Christmas gymkhana for our junior riding school members is on Friday 23rd December.
Starting at 10am and finishing at 1pm, this event is suitable for all abilities even if just on the lead rein. It is always one of our most popular events and at the end of the gymkhana (12am), Santa has agreed to interrupt his busy schedule and pop in to Barguse grotto and hand out a small gift and find out exactly what you would like for Christmas!
The cost is £20 for pony centre members and £22 for non-centre members, which includes a small gift.
For those who have younger siblings who would like to book in and see Santa only, then this costs just £3 to include a small gift.
Please book in at the office if you would like to participate.
Sponsored Ride
Our 24hr sponsored ride has raised over £300 so far with sponsor money still coming in. A huge thank you to all those who took part and to those who donated money. We really appreciate it.
Saddle Checks
We have arranged for Nutwell Saddlery from Exeter to visit Barguse on Tuesday 20th December. If you are interested in having your saddle checked by a master saddler and flocked/adjusted on site then please contact Nutwell Saddlery on 01392 877896.
This is important as these days are always really popular and they can only fit in so many people in a day. Please note they do charge a small travel fee to help cover fuel costs.
