Our new shopJune Newsletter

Welcome to our June newsletter. This promises to be a great month with lots of competitions and clinics going on. The month has kicked off with some great weather which we can only hope will last! Though it does provide us with the added headache of continually watering the indoor and maintaining the ground in the jumping paddock! You cannot have it all!

For those interested, you can keep abreast of the current standings of our championships for our summer competitions by looking on the front page of our website! With three more months to go, it promises to be a great contest. We aim to bring different clinics and competitions to all types of rider so hopefully there will be something that appeals to you!
However, if you would like to see an activity that you feel is missing please let us know. We aim to please!!

Our new Tack shop

Our new tack shop/office finally opened this week! This is the first stage of our long term development plan and means that I finally get rid of the dreaded portacabin before Shirley disappeared through the floor! Over the next few months we will gradually be increasing our stock and adding new ranges. It’s open to both the general public and Barguse riders who will be able to take advantage of numerous discounts and concessions. So please do feel free to come in and browse!
We have some great new products arriving from the States and we plan to put The Spoilt Horse Company on the map with our own e-commerce site so you can even shop from your chair! An official shop opening is planned for later in the year!

Richard Waygood

Richard Waygood is giving a lecture/demo on Saturday 18th June at 7pm. This demo is suitable for any one of any discipline and is interactive, fun and informative. With the aid of demo and guinea pig riders, Richard will run through all three phases involved in eventing. Thereby making it of interest for all riders and hopefully, giving you tips for future use!
Tickets cost £15 for adults and £10 for children (10 yrs and under) and can only be purchased in advance. Riding club members can receive tickets at a concessionary rate of £10.
Richard will be running his jumping clinic the following day (19th June) for those riders who did not participate at the cross country clinic at Chyverton. Please contact the office to book in.

Lisa

Michael Beining clinic

The next Michael Beining clinic will run from the 20th – 22nd July. There will be a video evening held during that time and we are also looking to run a dismounted session in addition. This would allow riders to explore the various technical aspects involved and therefore help during the mounted sessions. This clinic is becoming increasingly popular so to ensure you get the time and days that you want please book in plenty of time. You may have noticed that we are starting to add videos of some of the training sessions (see website) involving some of the riders both in the States and the UK which we hope gives people a brief overview of his teaching methods.

Michael will also be starting a regular blog for the dedicated dressage site involving all his clinics in the UK which is to be launched soon. We hope you will find it of interest!

Saddle Club

Saddle Club

Our next competition for junior riders has gone live on our website and it’s a great prize!! We have managed to obtain a dvd of series 2 (part 1) of the hugely popular series “The Saddle Club”.
For the uninitiated, (shame on you!), it is a live action series about three girls called Lisa, Carole & Stevie and tells about the escapades that they get up to with their horses!
The new dvd is not on general release until the 25th July but we have managed to get our hands on one especially for this competition. How cool are we!!

All you need to do is tell me the name of the stables that features in The Saddle Club. Then send me the answer along with your name and contact details via e-mail, phone or snail mail. All correct answers will go forward to a draw and the winning person snags themselves that very dvd!! Remember though that entries need to be in by midnight on the 31st July! Good luck!

Summer Competition

Our summer competition series kicked off in May with well attended classes. Placed combinations accumulate points towards the championship tables and the winners will receive a trophy, rosette and gift voucher worth £50. There is even a rosette for the combination who has the highest dressage score over the series. Additionally, the classes are also qualifiers for the Cricklands Championships. To keep up to date with the current standings of the Championship tables please check out our website.

Our next jumping competition is on the 17th June and the dressage one is on the 24th June.

Fit to Ride

Fit to Ride

The Fit to Ride interactive presentation by Jon Pitts is to take place on the 30th June from 6-8pm. You can find further details regarding the initiative on our website. Places need to be booked in advance and cost £20 for Barguse riders and £25 for non Barguse riders. We will be using fit balls as part of the clinic and subject to demand are hoping to run further clinics and presentations on subjects such as performance, safety and confidence.

For any rider who wants to improve or just learn a bit more with regards to how we interact with our four legged friends then you cannot afford to miss this presentation.

Please contact 01208 831817 or check out www.fittoride.org for further information

Dismounted Workshops

In response to the growing demand from riders for more dismounted workshops that will help aid improvement in their riding ability and the understanding behind how we affect our horses. We can now offer pilates for riders. They will run on a monthly basis and are taken by Gillian Tabor who is not only a qualified human and equine physio but a horse rider in her own right.

The first session will be on Monday 13th June at 10am and numbers are strictly limited in order that Gillian can give each person attention and to ensure we are doing it properly! If you would like to participate please give us a call to book a place!
We hope these sessions will complement the monthly feldenkrais sessions that we have been regularly running for a while now.

Dressage Academy

There will be two dressage academy evenings running in June but ask that interested riders contact the office to book a place and to check on dates . These evenings are popular and because we will video riders within the session, we can only accommodate so many people!

Pony Club Summer Camp

Finally, if you have not yet put your name down for summer pony club camp then get on and do it!! This is always a brilliant camp and hugely popular! Not only do you get to ride lots of great ponies but you have fun with other like minded people! There are lots of games and fun events planned over the four days so go on and book your place!!
