Richard Waygood
The next Richard Waygood jumping clinic is on Sunday 15th April. This clinic is extremely popular and always attracts plenty of riders but if you have never attended one before and would like more details please give us a call.
We intend to run these clinics through the summer months but some of them may need to be scheduled during weekdays due to Richard’s commitments as chef d’equipe to the senior dressage team and his hectic schedule in the run up to the Olympics so please e-mail us if you wish to be placed on the update list for clinic dates.

Spurs
Congratulations to Steph Tiplady and Henry for their win in the Spurs puissance at the end of March. We were delighted that such a popular combination had won and this is the very reason that we are happy to sponsor this class. The cheers from the crowd were overwhelming!
On another note we were pleased that two of our own riders were successful in the points championships that Spurs runs each year. Junior rider, Donna Long took the Junior runner up title and our own coach, Celena Wolfe, took the senior runner up title missing taking top honours by just points.
Congratulations to them both, there hard work over the last year is finally paying off.

Dressage Clinics
The dressage clinics with Michael Beining will continue to run from July after baby Todd finally arrives!
If you wish to take a lesson with Michael before then please contact Lisa who can pass on contact details of the other clinic organisers that run them in the UK. Alternatively, you can join in any of the dressage academy or body awareness sessions that we run at Barguse to keep you ticking over!

Olympics
The Olympics are coming to Barguse!! Well, at least our version of it! We could not let this momentous occasion pass us by without celebrating it in some way and at the same time raise much needed funds for our charity, the Barguse Charitable Trust. On Sunday 6th May, we will be looking to complete 2012 laps of the indoor arena and you can help in either of two ways or both if you wish! Firstly, we are looking for sponsorship of £1 per lap and how many laps you sponsor is completely up to you whether it is for one lap or a hundred. Any amount would be greatly received.
Secondly, we are looking for riders to help us complete the laps whether on our ponies/horses or your own. All we ask is for a contribution of 5p per lap and you can do as many laps as you would like to pay for. Again, all money raised will go to the charity.
If you would like to ride or sponsor a lap (or both) please see the office where you will be able to add your name to our wall of sponsorship and book your riding slot. We hope that you can help us achieve our goal of raising over £2000 this year!

Take back the reins
For the older riders out there we have also been selected to roll out the new initiative ‘Take Back the Reins’ which is aimed at riders who have been away from horses for a while and who would like to get back into the sport. For beginner riders that have never ridden, it’s an ideal opportunity to try our sport out and meet other likeminded people at the same time. The sessions run at various times throughout the week and last 1 and a half hours each.
This comprises half an hour to prep and mount clients, a 30 minute lesson and a social gathering after lasting between 20 – 30 minutes where riders can enjoy a cup of tea/coffee and biscuits and ask any questions they may have. We ask that each rider has a 30 minute one to one induction on the first lesson so we can assess their ability and place them into the right groups. The groups are very small and each block of sessions runs for seven weeks by which we hope that each rider will have fulfilled a personal goal whatever it may be!
The cost of the sessions are £105 for a seven week block, booked and paid in advance (£15 per session) or £18 per session for individual sessions booked. For more details, please contact the office.

Pony Club Camp
Our annual pony club camp will run this year from the 20th -23rd August. We will be releasing the details of the schedule in the next few days along with a kit list and payment details. We are happy to take instalments to help spread the cost. If you would like your child to attend then please contact the office.
Sportivate Active Riding
We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded approval and funding to deliver the ‘Sportivate Gets Active Riding’ Project in Cornwall. This project is aimed at 14 – 25 year olds who come from semi sporty backgrounds and who would like to try the sport of riding. The course commences on Thursday 3rd May at 7pm and runs for 6 weeks. The cost each session is just £5 and by the end of the six week course each participant should be able to perform simple movements and earn themselves a certificate to show for their achievements.
If you know anyone who would like to take up this opportunity please ask them to get in touch with the office on 01208 831817.

Feldenkrais
Throughout the summer, we run various clinics including dental, equine physio, feldenkrais sessions and saddle checks. The next one is on 14th May for saddle checks. Nutwell saddlery will be available to check your saddle fitting and make any alterations whilst you wait here on site at Barguse. They do ask that you come dressed for riding as they like to see each horse ridden. If you would like more details please contact the office. If you wish to join in any future clinics please contact the office or e-mail to express your interest.
