Wild Horse HuckleFebruary Newsletter

Welcome to the combined February and March letter. With February being such a short month, we felt it would be more efficient to let you know what is going on over the next couple of months and then hopefully, you’ll be well aware of the events we’re running and able to plan your competition schedule in plenty of time.

We will send a brief update in March if there are any pressing events and of course, if you want to stay up to date with all the latest news then go to our facebook page. As I write this we have already begun our unaffiliated dressage evenings and the 17th Feb sees the start of our clear round evenings which are always popular.
All the events and schedules can be found on our events page or alternatively, call the office for more details. We look forward to seeing you!

Richard Waygood

Despite a crashing fall just a few days before and heavy snow at his end of the country, Richard Waygood managed to run another successful jumping clinic on the 10th February. These clinics are always informative, fun and really well supported and have become a regular fixture in the calendar. We appreciate the fact that Richard always finds time to make the three hour journey down here especially this year being Olympic year and his busy schedule as chef d’equipe for the senior dressage team.
On 3rd March, he will be running a lecture/demo evening at Barguse in conjunction with a local riding club from 7pm. This lecture looks at training the event horse in all three disciplines and at different levels and is suitable for anyone from the amateur rider to the professional .Richard is well known on the demo circuit for his fun and educational lectures and we guarantee you that it will be an evening not to be missed.

Tickets can be purchased from Barguse in advance for £10 or on the door for £15 or £12 on show of a BRC membership card. Alternatively, tickets may be purchased from Caroline Wills on 07834184487. Richard will be hosting a clinic the following day at Barguse so if you would like a place please contact the office on 01208 831817 to book a session. These clinics are really popular so please book in plenty of time to secure a place.

Tack Shop

As spring approaches, we have lots of new stock arriving in the tack shop. We have some beautiful technical jackets and clothing from Gersemi and Cavallo arriving in the next few months and lots of tee shirts ready for the summer. Well, I’m nothing but hopeful!! We have also sourced a new range of children’s clothing and are looking to expand our stock of horse rugs for the spring and summer. We also realise that you really like the gifts for kids and with this in mind will begin to stock books, dvds and dressage test sheets and folders in store which make ideal gifts.

Don’t forget that if you need to stock up on the everyday items for your horse then we usually have it in stock or can source it within 48 hours subject to the wholesaler’s having it in stock.

Dressage Evening

Our next unaffiliated dressage evening will be on the 16th March. During the winter, we run just two classes and have only limited numbers so if you would like a place please make sure you get your entry into us in plenty of time to avoid disappointment. Please can we also remind competitors that if you enter by e-mail or phone, that the entry should be paid for in advance. Any fee not paid until the night will be charged at extra cost.

Once entries have been received whether verbally or by e-mail, any subsequent withdrawals will still be expected to pay the entry fee regardless of the circumstances. This is only fair to the other competitors and failure to pay would mean either a substantial decrease in the prize money or the competition running at a loss. There can be no exception to this rule so please do not ask!!

Jumps

Clear Round Evenings

Our popular clear round evenings begin on the 17th Feb with another one scheduled on the 30th March. These evenings provide a great opportunity to school around a course with no pressure or even give you a chance to exercise your horse for little cost. No competition clothing is required and you can jump around as few or as many times as you wish.
You can check out the varying heights on the schedule on the events page.

Website

We are currently in the process of refreshing the content of our website and introducing new areas that should appeal to all our different riders regardless of your age or ability. If you feel that there is something we have missed and would like to see, please e-mail us at info@barguseridingcentre.co.uk with your suggestions and ideas and we will endeavour to implement them.
